Lately I’ve been thinking about forgiveness. More specifically learning how to love others in forgiveness even when the don’t “deserve” it. As I’ve been thinking about this I was reminded of a song that I really loved a little while ago and I wanted to share it with all of you…
It’s the hardest thing to give away and the last thing on your mind today. It always goes to those that don’t deserve.
It’s the opposite of how you feel when the pain they caused is just too real, it takes everything you have just to say the word… Forgiveness.
It flies in the face of all your pride. It moves away the mad inside. It’s always anger’s own worst enemy. Even when the jury and the judge say you gotta right to hold a grudge, it’s the whisper in your ear saying ‘Set It Free’… Forgiveness.
Show me how to love the unlovable. Show me how to reach the unreachable. Help me now to do the impossible… Forgiveness.
It’ll clear the bitterness away. It can even set a prisoner free. There is no end to what it’s power can do. So, let it go and be amazed by what you see through eyes of grace. The prisoner that it really frees is you… Forgiveness.
Show me how to love the unlovable. Show me how to reach the unreachable. Help me now to do the impossible… Forgiveness.
I want to finally set it free. So show me how to see what Your mercy sees. Help me now to give what You gave to me…Forgiveness.
You should definitley watch this video as it has a powerful message talking about the reason behind writing this song…
This post resonates with me so much at the moment. Thank you so much for sharing 😊

Thank you for this beautiful piece ! If we don’t forgive and let go , to me is “Living rent free in your head “. So we just have not free ourselves and it does not mean we should go back to the people that has wronged us . But for our own sanity , is the best thing we can .

forgiveness is not something that you do for others because sometimes they do not deserve it. Is something that you do for yourself to have peace and let it go. Interesting article!

I think people have a misconception of forgiveness. Most don’t understand that forgiveness isn’t for the person who did you wrong. It is SO true that forgiveness is to free ourselves. It took me a LONG time to understand this. I still remember the hurt, but I am over the anger. Forgiveness is beautiful. ❤
Thank you so much for this lovely post.

I love this song too and what the background to it. It is amazing how not forgiving can hold you in a bondage without you even realising it. As “GREEN WORLD” said true forgiveness is not for the person you are forgiving, but for yourself.
Through Christ we have been forgiven of so much – past, present and future sins. I agree with “SILVERLININGSBLOG” it can be difficult, especially for the really deep hurts that sometimes have left a scar. Nevertheless, forgiveness costs us little, but it benefits us so much.
Praise God, for the forgiveness of our sins. May we emulate Christ and forgive those that have wronged us, even if it is hard.

I absolutely love this song by Matthew West because it has so much meaning to what I feel we are called to be as Christians. Forgiveness is not easy and even though, people say “it’s not for the other person but you”; it’s still putting aside all of the pain that came with it that makes it difficult to forgive.
But, God showed us how to forgive and Jesus later showed us when He died on the cross, forgiving His enemies. I pray that whatever it is that is making you have unforgiveness, that you take it to God first.

Amen! Taking my burdens before God in prayer and truly trusting him in all aspects of my life have certainly helped me to forgive those who may not have done the right thing or treated me the right way. Jesus said in scripture to forgive seventy times seven times meaning infinitely, just as he has forgiven us of our sins both present, past and future. Thank you very much for reading! May God continue to bless you as you live according to his will. Many Blessings, Grace

I found forgiveness a real-life struggle. I’ve been having hard times forgiving some lame people in my life. All I wanted to do was swearing at them and hoping they would go to hell. But, reading your post, it made me cry. I’ve been very melancholic lately, almost all posts on relationship, self-help, or anything related to my life, had made me cry like a little baby.
Anyway, thank you for posting this, it’s been a blessing for readers I believe! xo

It certainly was a struggle for me too but as I started learning how to forgive more and more with each passing day, I have felt myself becoming more free too. I hope you have a blessed day! Thank you so much for reading!

I’ve thought about this over the past year. It can be a practice, sometimes, reminding oneself, “Oh yeah, I forgave them.” or “Oh yeah, I forgave myself.” This can happen for awhile, until it sticks!

I agree. Not dwelling on the past and reminding yourself to keep moving forward always helps me to have a more positive mindset. Many Blessings, Grace.

When we hurt a stranger, we say ‘I’m so sorry’. And the other way, we say “oh that’s perfectly fine”. Why cant we do this to our own people. If only people can forgive, not much, at least a bit. the world would have been so beautiful.

Holding a grudge is deadly
So much easier to hold a grudge then to forgive
But once you forgive holding a grudge have no meaning your life.
Forgiving is hard because it’s mistaken for weakness
but forgiving does not mean to repeat the same mistakes, it just mean that he pain that use to bother no longer has control of my mind and body and I can look at you in the face and feel no pain any longer.
