Hey Guys!
As a teenager in today’s society I feel like more is often seen as better and I am here to let you know that it’s false. I believe that the younger you start implementing good habits into your lifestyle the easier and the better it will be for you in the long run. So that’s why I want to talk to you today about money and specifically saving money. Here are three tips on how to/I save money…
My very first tip is to save before anything else! As soon as you get paid make sure to put aside some of your money straight into your savings account before you can even spend a cent. If you get a regular pay cheque decide how much money you’ll put into your account every single time you get paid. I personally am employed as a casual which makes it hard to come up with a set amount of money to put into my savings account each time I get paid as each pay is different. So I decide how much money I am going to save by percentage making sure that I am always saving the same percentage of money each time I get paid.
The second tip I have which is something that I’ve been doing for about a year now is to track every expense and I mean every. Grab a note book or you can use the notes app on you electronic device and on one side of the page write the item you purchased and on the other side of the page write the price you paid for that item. This will help you to see all the things you are spending your money on and show you the areas you might need to be a bit more conscious about spending less in.
My last but most important tip is to be content! If you’re not content then nothing you buy will ever satisfy you. You’ll buy something that will give you satisfaction for only a short moment and then the satisfaction will end. Therefore you’ll go out and buy yourself something else again and again and again hoping to find contentment in perishable things this world has to offer and feeling empty each time.
Matthew 6:19-21 says ‘Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourself treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is there you’re heart will be also.’
Therefore I encourage you to invest in things that physically don’t cost anything but spiritually are worth everything whether that be your Family, your Faith, etc.
Many Blessings, Grace.
Contentment, such a simple concept, and yet, one very easy to struggle in. Thanks fir the reminder ;).

Awesome post, Grace!! You gave such great tips. xx For school right now, I’m taking personal finance, and it is helping me so much to stay conscious of what I spend my money on! Sometimes I struggle to stay content with what I have, and I find myself often wanting new books, clothes, etc, and that Bible verse you shared is a great reminder. 🙂 I’m trying to save all of the money I get right now, and it is slowly but surely adding up. I don’t have a job yet, but I hope to get one within the next year or so!

You’re welcome! Yes it really is 🙂 because then you can afford things that will last instead of buying smaller things here and there! lol! Thanks, I do too 🙂

Yes, it is very important to save money when you are a teen. I started working part-time when I was 15, then started working full-time at age 18. I managed to save enough money on minimum wage to buy a house as 24 year old. I know people who didn’t save money in their teens and they are struggling now, unfortunately. Good luck saving your money Grace 😀

Are you sure you’re a teenager!!?? Because you have a great head on your shoulders, I can tell by just reading through a few of your posts. I do save money out of every paycheck with direct deposit, into a few savings accounts.
And I need to get better about tracking all of my expenses. I know it will help.
I have found that being content definitely saves me a lot of money. I wish I had thought about all these things when I was your age!
